About GSalam.Net

Welcome!

Assalamu alaikum (Peace be upon you)!

It is an honour to have you here. I am sure you are going spend a meaningful time getting to understand the aims of GSalam.Net. You may also want to get to know the person behind GSalam.Net.

Primary Aim of GSalam.Net

GSalam.Net is a website dedicated to discussing and presenting Islamic knowledge to my readers online and offline, and to fellow seekers of knowledge from a different perspective; in a simple way, with authenticity, based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

Here at GSalam.Net… We embrace the Faith of Islam… We share the Message of Islam… We cherish the Mercy of Islam

GSalam.Net’s Style of Blogging

As you read GSalam.Net, there are a few things you will notice on the website:

  • Simplicity. You don’t have to be highly educated to learn Islam. Thus, we learn Islam the simple, but effective way, insha Allah.
  • No affiliation. Above all status and affiliations, we are Muslims. Thus, I align all discussions to the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, ṣallā Allāhu ‘alayhi wasallam. Where further elaboration may be needed, I refer to what I perceive to be more reasonable, from the opinions of the noble and reliable scholars of Islam.

Who is Behind GSalam.Net?

My name is Abdul-Salam Abdul-Hameed. I am a Ghanaian born, a (Muslim) blogger and writer, and a seeker of knowledge. My friends call me Baba Salam. Here online, I am known as GSalam Writer.

In my journey of seeking knowledge and wisdom, I’ve, so far, traveled to Tunisia (1998 – 2000), Syria (2000 – 2006), Singapore (2006 – Present) and Malaysia (2012 – Present).

In Tunisia I completed my Qur'an memorization. It was a blessing to be at the Umar Ibn Al-Khattab Qur'an School. It was an opportunity to get to learn from the late Shaikh Hasan al-Wargue, the founder of the school, as well as from the late Shaikh Abdul-Rahman al-Hafyan, Shaikh Muhammad Masfar and others.

In Syria, I read Arabic Language and Islamic Studies for my first degree at the Islamic Call College, which is based in Abu Nour Complex. At the then Abu Nour Complex, now Shaikh Ahmad Kuftaro Complex, I had the chance to learn from the late Shaikh Kuftaro and several of his students. I was also given the chance to learn from the late Dr. Shaikh Muhammad Saeed Ramadan al-Bouti, whose house I stayed close to. I was also blessed to take my Ijazah in the Riwayah of Hafs from Shaikh Mahir al-Munajjid and Shaikh Muhammad al-Kull. I also read with the late Shaikh Muhammad Sukkar. I received Ijazah in the narration of Hadith from Shaikh Abdul-Hadi Kharsah.

In Singapore, I had the opportunity to teach at various Islamic schools, namely, Madrash Wak Tanjong Al-Islamiah, Madrasah Al-Irsyad (now Madrasah Irsyad Zuhri) Al-Islamiah, and Sekolah Ugamah Radin Mas (SURM).

I took my Masters' Degree from the International Islamic Universiy Malaysia (IIUM) (2012-2015). Currently, I'm a PhD student at the same university, specializing in Educational Technology.
