Alhamdulillāh… All praise and thanks are due to the Almighty Allāh. I send peace and blessings upon Ḥabībī Muḥammad, his household, his companions and all those who follow his guided path, till the Day of Judgement.

This is part 3 of ‘Reflections from the Qur'an’ series, which is posted here on GSalam.Net, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, throughout the holy month of Ramaḍān 2014. I pray that Allāh grants us more understanding of His book and religion.

Allāh, ʿazza wa jalla, says in Sūrah al-Taḥrīm, 66:6:

“Believers! Safeguard yourselves and your families from a Fire, fuelled by people and stones…”

The Qur’an has made it known to us how severe Allāh is, in punishment, if He decides to. This can be found in Sūrah al-Māʾidah, 5:98:

“Know that Allah is severe in punishment.”

Allāh could have simply warned the believers against His Anger and Punishment, by telling them to beware of His punishment. However, He warned them against His Fire, which is material that can be physically felt. Why then, did Allāh use fire to warn us against the consequences of disobeying Him?

It's naturally human that one dislikes to see his spouse and especially his child[ren] in pain. Such pain can range from that, which is caused by fly bites to road accidents and fire outbreaks.

Undoubtedly, seeing your wife/husband or child screaming from fire burns is unbearable. Sometimes, you may impossibly wish to bear the pains on their behalf.

Since you love them dearly, you ought to save them from the fire outbreak of the Hereafter, which is not supposed to be your destination. It’s been prepared for the infidels, the hypocrite and the arrogant.

“And fear the Fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers.” [Sūrah Āli ʾImrān, 3:131].

“Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire – and never will you find for them a helper.” [Sūrah al-Nisāʿ, 4:145].

“On the Day of Resurrection you will see those who uttered falsehoods about Allāh with their faces blackened. Is there not enough room in Hell for the arrogant?” [Sūrah al-Zumar, 39:60].

To have a rough idea of how the fire of the Hereafter may look like, let’s just take a glimpse at volcanoes, when it erupts and ejects lava, ash and gases.

May Allah give us the courage and strength to safeguard ourselves and our loved ones from disobeying Him, the Almighty, and from the hellfire. Amīn.
