Question

Can kids perform prayer in 1st row?

Answer

Yes. Kids who know how to pray, and have the interest in praying can perform prayers in first rows, alongside adults. But they shouldn't stand right behind the Imam.

The space right behind the Imam is encouraged to be for people who are more knowledgeable about prayers, so that, in case, the Imam needs help or replacement, they will be the right people to assist.

Encouraging kids to pray in front rows lifts up their moral, and makes them look forward to come to the mosque, even when their parents are not available to bring them along. It also helps to minimize the noise kids make in the mosque.

However, kids who are playful should be asked to be in a designated row for kids.
