Background

We are fated to live in this time, when we see or hear about all sorts of individuals or groups who embrace, promote, or support all sorts of immoralities (fawāḥish). What makes things worse is that such individuals and groups have developed the audacity to push these sinful acts and evil deeds on everyone else. As a result, they gain more voices at the expense of voices of morality which have been systematically dimmed and shut by the day, for many reasons.

However, each of us has the responsibility to continue creating and raising awareness and warning against any sort of immoralities, that are no longer invading us in the communities and on the streets, but now have been aggressively spreading in our schools, mosques, and homes. Lā hawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh!

The sinful and shameless act of Qawm Lut, which is basically homosexuality but has evolved into forms and names like lesbianism, transgenderism, queerism, LGBTism, LGBTQism, and all the -isms.

At the moment, the the promotion and spread of the acts of Qawm Lut is the hottest of all. Or probably it’s second to agnosticism. Followed by feminism. However, this article is highlighting the spread of the acts of Qawm Lut.

The Acts of Qawm Lut During Prophet’s Time

It’s important for the Muslim to understand, that the shameless act of Qawm Lut did not vanish with the perishing of the sinful people of Sayyidunā Lūt ‘alayhi al-salām.

Why? Well, because even though a divine punishment befell the sinners and caused them to perish, the Devil who instigated and inspired this sinful thought in them remained.

Fast forward… it’s evident, that this sinful act was available during the time of The Prophet Muhammad, ṣallā Allāhu ’alayhi wa sallam. However, only the lowest of people in morality would do it. And they would only do it in a secret and private setting as possible. Let alone promote it. Don’t ever talk about normalising it. What's more; promoting it as a movement!

Promoting the Acts of Qawm Lut as a Movement

Even though it existed during the time of the Prophet Muhammad, ṣallā Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, the acts of Qawm Lut was never a movement.

However, for argument’s sake, had the Qawm Lut's shamelessness been a movement during the time of the Prophet ṣallā Allāhu ’alayhi wa sallam, I have no doubt, that Abdullāh ibn Ubay ibn Salūl, for one, would have supported it. If not openly, then secretly. This was in Madīnah era. I doubt if Abū Jahl and Abū Lahab would have supported that.

Why would Abdullāh ibn Ubay ibn Salūl have supported it? Well, because Abdullāh ibn Ubay ibn Salūl was known for supporting anything that was anti-Islam. He supported whatever would anger Muhammad. Even though he prayed behind Muhammad. Even though he lived within the community of Muhammad, ṣallā Allāhu ’alayhi wa sallam. Whereby, Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab had a sense of shame that could have stopped them from supporting such acts.

Ibn Salūl is no more. But his legacy has been flourishing by the day.

Where Did Sayyidunā Lut’s Wife Go Wrong?

We can argue that the wife of Sayyidunā Lūṭ ‘alayhi al-salām was Muslim and one from the Muslim community of her time.

How is that? Well, she was the wife of a Prophet. They shared the same shelter. And she was the mother of his children.

Yet, when Allah sent down punishment, He saved Sayyidunā Lūṭ and his entire household, except his wife.

Wait! Wasn’t she ‘Muslim’? Wasn’t she the wife of Prophet Lūṭ? What did she do wrong?

Well, she advocated for the spread of the fāḥishah of homosexuality. And that was the acts of Qawm Lut. She supported them, to the extent that she facilitated their activities.

The Acts of Qawm Lut in the 21st Century

Today, in the 21st century, we have individuals who identify as Muslims and are counted among the Muslim community. Not only that, but some of them have also risen to hold political posts at the expense of the Muslim community. Yet, they have chosen to champion the cause of the acts of Qawm Lut.

Here, it’s important to mention names. And I can think of names like Ilhan Omar and Linda Sarsour.

Mentionings names here is important because with the hot wave of liberalism which causes more confusion and crisis in many Muslim minds, and with the rate of insecurity complex on the rise in the hearts of many of us, we swallow anything and everything that comes from the West. Blindly.

Therefore, when the likes of Ilhan Omar and Linda Sarsour emerged, Muslim women became like, “voila! … these are the role models we have been missing to represent us all this while.”

Especially, when Ilhan Omar was first elected to the congress, many Muslims (women in particular) around the world went excited. Because she’s a Muslim woman who dons the hijab and represents immigrants. However, the truth is, that the turban on Ilhan Omar's head is not a hijab.

Choose Your Role Models Wisely

To the Muslim woman I would like to say:

Ya Bunayyati and Ya Ukhti,

If you come across this article, please consider it as honest advice. Ilhan Omar and Linda Sarsour, and whoever speaks their language and advocates for the cause of the people of Qawm Lut don’t qualify to be role models for you at any angle.

Hold on! Are they that bad? Don’t they possess any good?

Well… no matter how much good a person possesses (and for that matter any person), the evil of supporting the acts of the people of Qawm Lut outshines all that good. Arguably, the wife of Sayyidunā Lūṭ also wasn’t all that evil. But the ‘good’ she possessed was outshone by her support and advocating for the acts of Qawm Lut.

What if the person doesn’t support the acts of Qawm Lut, only that he has no issues with them?

Having No Issues with the Acts of Qawm Lut is an Issue on Its Own

We are talking about obvious evil. We are talking about a cause that certainly leads to Allah’s wrath. Yes, one may not have the capacity to stop it. But he shouldn’t normalize it in his heart. Let alone support, promote or advocate for it.

Statements like “I don’t support acts, or movement that promote the acts of Qawm Lut. However, I have no problem with them either” is equally as evil as promoting it.

The least is that the statement is an indication of blockage of the heart of the person from seeing the danger of evil acts. When Allah blocks our hearts, blurs up our eyes, and deafens our ears, from seeing a problem as a problem, we see no problem in problems. And we see big problems in no problems.

You Have to Decide

Ya Bunayyati and Ya Ukhti!

Would you want to be resurrected with the wife of Sayyidunā Lūṭ? I’m sure you don’t want that. Right? Would you want to lead to lead a life like Abdullāh ibn Ubay ibn Salūl? I'm sure you dont' want that for yourself. Right?

Then why would you want to seek role modeling from anyone who follows in their footsteps?

Anyone, male or female, family or relative, friend or neighbour, black or white, public figure or layperson, leader or follower, religious or otherwise, learned or ignorant, whoever normalises sinful acts to you, will only pull you closer to hell, away from the mercy of Allah. This is no matter how kind they have been to you. No matter how convincing they sound to you. No matter how respected they happen to be. And no matter how famous they are.

If Allah didn’t exempt the wife of a Prophet from divine punishment, what should make you and me think that we deserve to be exempted?

فَفِرُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

“Therefore hasten to God; truly, I am sent by Him to give you a clear warning.” (Sūrha al-Dhāriyāt, 50:51).

May Allah safeguard us. May He grant us a good ending. If you have read this piece to this point, consider sharing it on your social media handles. Also, let the conversation continue here on Facebook.

Allah knows best.
Allahu Hafiz 🙂

  1. You cant blame Ilhan Omar. She is a public representative in the USA, not any muslim country. She represents a wide variety of people in her area. Surely your not suggesting that she oppress aand ban LGBTQ people in her district?
