The Ramadan Secret Recipe

Welcome back!

I’m sure you’re here because you are excited to learn about the Ramadan secret recipe, probably you’re unable to read the Qur’an due to some reasons.

This is because you’re also aware of the magnitude of the Qur’an, which earned the month of Ramadan its sacredness above all months.

We have learnt, that Our Beloved, Rasulullah ṣallā Allāhu ’alayhi wa sallam would read the entire Qur’an during the month of Ramadan with Jibril.  And in his final Ramadan, he completed the Qur’an twice, with Jibril alayahi al-Salam.

In following in his footsteps, since he is our ultimate role model, every Muslim is encouraged to keep himself engaged with the Qur’an during the month of Ramadan as much as he can.

There are many ways we engage with the Qur’an. These include reading it, memorising it, learning it, understanding it, pondering upon its meaning, and the many other angles from which we can engage with the Qur’an.

However, if you happen to not have the privilege of being able to read the Qur’an during the month of the Qur’an, then you can’t afford to miss this Ramadan secret recipe that I’m suggesting here. I hope this will help to make up for the loss… for indeed, there’s a great loss, for the Muslim who can’t read the Qur’an.

So, how do we start and apply the Ramadan secret recipe?

Steps of The Ramadan Secret Recipe

Step One

Dedicate 15 minutes in Ramadan every day for making dhikr. Making remembrance of Allah. This 15 minute is, more or less, the period of time you’ll block in your daily routine to read the Qur’an if you were able to read it.

Furthermore, 15 minutes is very little. However, in order to maintain consistency, 15 minutes is a good starting point.

Step Two

Distribute the 15 minutes to as follows:

  • 5 minutes… for istighfār (astaghfirullāh)
  • 5 minutes… for sending blessings upon the Prophet ṣallā Allāhu ’alayhi wa sallam (Allāhuma ṣalli ‘alā Muḥammad)
  • 5 minutes… for “lā ḥawla wa lā quwwat illā billāh.”

You can replace the last section with any form of dhikr of your choice. For your convenience, here is a collection of du’as from the Qur’an and Sunnah. Click here to access them.

A Few Points to Note

First, the 15 minutes period is just a suggestion. You can add or extend it. It’s just a good starting point. You can increase the time as you become used to it, insha Allah.

Second, here’s a reminder for myself and my lovely good readers. Please keep your phone away during the 15 minutes (or the dedicated period for the dhikr). Let the world wait for you. After all, it’s only 15 minutes. Even if it’s an hour. The world can still wait.

Third, while this secret recipe is aimed to making up for the loss of our inability to read the Qur’an during Ramadan, we are encouraged to keep up with it beyond Ramadan. The good news is, that once you start feeling the results, you won’t want to trade it in for anything. But remember, the Devil will never give up on working hard and harder to deter you from doing or continuing doing it.

Fourth, while this secret recipe is for those who can’t read the Qur’an, it’s as well recommended for proficient readers of the Qur’an out there. How fruitful will it be when you can combine reading the Qur’an and dedicating some time to solely making dhikr. That will be beautiful!

Fifth, this secret recipe is to help us make up for the loss of not being able to read the Qur’an. However, we still have to find the means to learn to read the Qur’an, if our reason is just that we don’t know how to read the Qur’an.

Possible Results of the Ramadan Secret Recipe

There are certainly positive results the Muslim shall reap when he embraces the secret recipe. One in this life. And another in the next life.

In this life, Allah says…

Those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah; surely it is in the remembrance of Allah that hearts can find comfort. (Sūrah al-Ra’ad, 13;28)

And for the Akhirah,  He says:

وَالذَّاكِرِينَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَالذَّاكِرَاتِ أَعَدَّ اللَّهُ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًا ‏

Men and women who remember Allah very oftern, for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and great reward. (Sūrah al-Ahzab, 33:35)

May Allah grant us more opportunities to reap and harvest more rewards in Ramadan and beyond. And may He continue to safeguard us and grant us a good ending.

Until the next A Moment Please!, I leave you in Allah’s protection.

Wassalamu ‘alaykum
